LET OUT
because a neglected venereal disease caused him to do slipshod work
Don’t let syphilis or gonorrhea
slow you up and rob you of your
job? but see a competent doctor
or this reliable clinic at once!
EVERY year many thousands of men and women
lose their jobs due to inefficiency resulting from
neglected or improperly-treated venereal diseases.
It is estimated by officials of the U. S. Public Health
Service that such infections cost American wage
earners nearly $100,000,000.00 in lost pay annually!
Neither syphilis nor gonorrhea is a disease to
trifle with. For not only does the discomfort and
worry caused by these infections make it impossible
to do good work, but if long neglected or treated
with drug store “remedies” they may easily result
in permanent incapacity and loss of livelihood.
The importance of obtaining proper treatment
from a competent physician or clinic becomes appar
ent when you consider the disabling effects of
venereal diseases. Improperly-treated syphilis, for
example, may terminate in heart disease, blindness,
deafness, locomotor ataxia, apoplexy, paralysis or
even insanity!
Gonorrhea, too, can lead to much trouble unless
completely eliminated from the system. It may
readily end in crippling rheumatism, sterility, or
serious prostate, bladder and other troubles. Or it
may be the cause of an eye infection that will result
in loss of sight.
No need to lose your job
There’s no need, however, to lose your job and
perhaps suffer lifelong disability. For both diseases
can generally be cured if promptly, properly and
persistently treated. Thus every man or woman
who has an active venereal disease, or who has
reason to believe that an old infection still exists,
should consult a capable physician or visit the Public
Health Institute at once!
For the sooner treatment for a venereal disease
is started, the better arc the chances of complete
recovery. Especially is this true of syphilis, conse
quently every month, week or even day you save
has an important bearing on the final outcome of
your case.
During the past 16 years the friendly, sympa
thetic men and women physicians of the Public
Health Institute have given more than 4,000,000
venereal disease treatments to nearly 250,000 indi
viduals without violating a single confidence. Each
patient is promptly attended in a private room, and
for the sake of even greater privacy is known by
number instead of by name!
Treatments as low as $1.00
Organized by public-spirited citizens as a corporation
“NOT-FOR-PROFIT” under the laws of the State
of Illinois, the Public Health Institute offers low cost
venereal disease treatment to those unable to pay
higher fees. A complete examination for syphilis
and gonorrhea, including urinalysis, smears and
Wassermann blood test, costs only $3.00, while some
treatments for syphilis cost as little as $1.00 and
some of those for gonorrhea still less!
Hence there’s no reason whatever to run the risk
of letting a venereal infection wreck your health
and rob you of your livelihood. For not only can
the best of venereal disease treatment be obtained
confidentially and at nominal cost, but even persons
who are temporarily pressed for funds can arrange
for medical attention.
NOTE: The Public Health Institute has no
connection with any other Chicago health
or medical institute, and should not be con
fused with those operated for personal gain!
