PASSING FANCY Thrilled by your caresses, I felt only your charm, As in the sweetness of it all I thought Myself safe from harm; But the kisses that thrilled me, You did not mean them, And your arms brought dangers. To which I was blind then; You took my heart’s adoration, And crushed the joy that was my heav en, For your love was fancy and mine Was from my heart given; And so you laughed and left me, With heartbreaking poignant memories, And an echo of passing love. —By Evelyn Mae Jackson Progressive Baptist Church Deacon Board Seated, left to right, T.
