THE WORLD IS SMALL, AS SAYING WELL HAS IT. Trite Remark Proved in £x= periente of New York Man. "This world is a mighty small place, after all," remarked Major Mark Bun nell to a Washington Post reporter. Major Bunnell is an official of the Treasury Department, but his home is in Livingston county, N.. V. "I am reminded ot that trite saying by a little Incident that occurred on Pennsylvania avenue the other day. I stood on the corner of the avenue and Fifteenth street talking with Sam . Gray, one of the official stenographers i of the House, when Charley Hamilton,1 a newspaper man, approached. Mr. Hamilton lives in Livingston county, in the town of Groveland, and Mr. , Gray also was born in that place. We referred to the coincidence of three residents of Livingston county meet ing in this way, when who .should come along but Sam Blythe, of the Saturday Evening Post. who also is from Liv ingston county. "The party separated, and before I had gone half a block t ran into A*el Ford, a banker, who lives in Grove land, Livingston county. A few min utes later I caught sight of Francis J. Henoy, the prosecutor of the graft cases on the Pacific slope, who was born in I.Kingston county. Then, as if all of Livingston county had come to Washington and congregated in a small urea. I saw Dan McLeod, of the : pension office, also a resident of that j place. The next moment T caught a glimpse of Charles Gibson, clerk of the House committee on agriculture, whose home Is in Livingston county. "I doubt if there is another city In the United States that could show so many of its citizens, all at one time, on a quarter of n mile square in the city of Washington. The result of this, In all probability, will be the formation in Washington of the Society of the Geneseo of the District of Columbia. That valley, I believe, is the most beautiful valley in the United States.” THE BOYHOOD SWITCH, Gunner—I see the Canadian poet has penned an ode tp the birch. He says there is something in the birch tree that has thrilled us all. Guyer Thrilled us all? H’m! He must tie thinking about his boyhood and the old woodshed.—Chicago News. AGENTS WANTED.
