Another day gone—another day nearer Christ
mas—one less day to wait for me and the presents
I am going to put into your stockings or under
neath the tree. I know you’re glad—so am I, but
these long, busy days make me very tired, and my
old bones grow weary with the task of distributing
so many thousand toys, and if it weren’t for the
joy of it I would go to bed earlier than I do—just
like you little boys and girls—and not care whether
the little ones got toys or not.
After all, the only fun we get out of life is in
doing something for others. 1 wouldn’t give a rap
for the toy business if I couldn’t feel that every
tov made some heart gladder, every candle on a
tree made some eye brighter, every music note from
nurn or drum made some heart beat faster.
What would be the use of it if it didn’t give
joy ,J What is the use of anything if it doesn’t give
happiness? There’s fun enough in the world for
all of us—so let’s have lots of it.
Hurrah for Christmas! Hurrah for the Christ
