Chief MoMahon of the Montpelier police department had fourteen extra policemen on duty in the capital city today, on ac count of the circus performances there. A party of Montpelier and Barre men engaged Putney' tally-ho and rode to Northiield yesterday where dinner was had at the Northfield House, and good en tertainment furnished, although the land lord had no notice of their coming. The party had Intended to go to Williamstown tarings, but the day was cloudy. E. L. Putney was driver. The return trip was made by way of Berlin pond. Montpelier Argus. WILLIAMSTOWN. The Glass Blowers went to Chelsea yes terday for a week. Mrs. II. S. Drury has returned from Boston where she has been for the past week, being treated for deafness. She is much Improved. James Beckett arrived here from Boston last evening. Frank Downs is improving slowly; also Ralph Spencer from bilious fever. Henry Downs arrived home last even ing. He has completed the study of oste opathy and is nicely located at West Oil City, Pa. The funeral of Mrs. White was held to day with burial in Xorthneld. Jason Johnson was able to ride to the village yesterday, the first time since his illness. Carl C. Collins, wife and daughter of White River Junction visited at A. F. Smith's last week. Mrs. A. J. Thurston of East Barre vis ited in town last week. Mrs. O. II. Palmer was in Manchester, N. H, , last week on business. Mrs. Stewart Moore and children of East Barre visited in town recently. Clayton Emery and sinter, Mrs. Carl Iluntoon, were in Montpelier on business Thursday. Miss Junie Rollins returned to Brad ford Friday, . Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Riley of Brain tree visited at O. S. Sanborn's Saturday. Mr. ond Mrs. Frank Adams of Barre visited over Sunday at Almon Curtis'. Freeman Cunningham has sold what is known as the Mason Meadow to Mrs. S. C. Collins. LeRoy Rowe and Mrs. Annie Emery were in Montpelier Thursday, G. W. Bagley sold his Ned horse to George McClaui of East Topsnaru Thurs day. Mrs. Wm.
