Hulvntion Armr'a Xovel Idea For Kn
Op-a Air .MectiiiiT.
The Salvation Army workers have
adopt! a novt-1 departure in the forms
of entertainment for attracting r-cople
in the oiH-n air, says u special dispatch
from Siuinjrtiekl, Masts., to the New
York Evening Journal.
Stirring strains of sacreil songs ami
various selections of instrumental niu
mc produced through the medium of
an improved phonograph located in
side what resembles a bl bass drum
is their idea. The diameter of the
drum Is forty Inches. It is set on a
rubber tired carriage that can be
moved easily. The phonograph ar
rangement placed in the Inside is built
under the same patents as are those
used in the regular form of street
music boxes.
It Is tlie plan of the Salvation Army
people to use records which will re
produce the hymns familiar to every
one and also some of the sacred songs
as sung by the well known vocalist.
A considerable number of the new
street drums will be used by the army
in England.
