Dr. Edwards' Olive Tablets do not con tain calolel, but healing, soothing vege table laxative. No sriDinir is the "keynote" of these lit tle sugar-coated, olive-colored tablets. In the Vermont clean-up campaign the first week of May, the Greater Vermont association proposes Friday, May 7, as .Hallway day, on which citizens and organizations and clean-up committees are requested to give special attention , to cleaning up properties abutting on the railroads and to removing rubbish and disfigurements near the railroad right of way which may spoil Vermont views for the traveler. This work ought to be done in the villages and the cities and in the country if Vermonters are to be loyal to the slogan: "Vermont, as perfect as a garden, as beautiful as a park. The railroads will co-operate by put ting their men at work on the right of way and devoting Friday, May 7 or if something unforeseen should prevent, a following day to clean up work on their right of way. The Greater Vermont as sociation finds among all a disposition to work to make Vermont immaculate, in a class by herself. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS TAKEN. Lumber Companies and Owners Try to Lessen Fire Danger to Forests. For lack of copious rains, the forests of the state are in a condition more dry than usual at this time of the year and special precautions are being taken throughout the state to guard against forest fires if possible. Telephone con nections have been made with lookouts on top of several Vermont peaks and on many of them men have been stationed. Four patrolmen are working on the long trail between Killington and Lincoln mountains, each man covering 15 to 20 miles a day. A new association has also been formed for the express purpose of guarding against fires, its name being the Vermont Timberland Owners' associa tion, with headquarters at Bloomfield. The principal member are the Connec ticut Valley Lumber company, the Ber lin Mills and Odell Manufacturing com pany. The association has engaged four patrolmen to guard its interests. To protect its timberland, recently be queathed to It by the late Joseph list tell, Middlrbnry college has put up three telephone lines and will maintain a pa trolman in the vieinitr of Breadloaf mountain. Last Saturday, in Burlington, a grass fire sprrad over five acre of land and killed most of the small trees set out on a plantation tract a year ago. State Forester Hawes had charge of the 45 men who finally auoceeded in extinguish ing it. Another fire was reported to the forestry depadtment at Leceister. pus Hill has always produced just what in his judgment, based on years of active experience, seems to be what the public have expressed their preference for. Instead of sitting at his desk year in and year out, Mr. Hill makes two tours of the entire country each season, visiting his attractions and seeing with his own eyes how his work is taken by the people who pay to go to the theatre. AH of his productions have been fig ured in that Way, hence his unerring success. Realizing the fact that vaude ville is the predominating form of .en tertainment at the present day, he has shaped his newest offering "Bringing Up Father" from the cartoon pictures by George McManus, on vaudeville lines, in fact the entire cast is made up of vaude ville performers.
