Farnham. the horse man, will hold his next (40th) big combination auction sale of horses and other prop erty at his stables in Montpelier, at 08 Northfield street, on Friday, Aug. 20, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon; carload of fresh horses, just in from the West, and a cood lot of commission property. Mrs. Anthony tiasparello and two daughters of Merchant Street left tue city yesterday for Boston, where they are to pay a farewell visit to Mrs. Gas parello's mother, her brother and sister, who are leaving within a few days for their former home in Italy. Mrs. Gas parello's brother, after a residence of several years in Boston, has been called to the Italian colors and will enroll in the army immediately upon bis arrival in the homeland. A 500 party was held last evening at the home of Miss Cora Batchelder on Hill street, ten of her lady friends being present. Jn winning the most points during the evening Miss Harel Lyon caned away the first prue. Hiss fcm Siayton was the one most unsuccessful and was awarded the prize for the low est percentage. From Barre to-day the advance guard of a sizeable Pvthian delegation that is to be in the Raiiroad city next week went to St. Albans. No. 10, is to send a large delegation to the state convention, but the greater number of local Pythians are deferring their visit to St. Albans until the annual mid summer ceremonial of Susdah temple. Some of the temple furnishings were shipped to the conven tion to day, but the templars themselves will not leave the city until Tuesday morning. At the request of the respondent's counsel, the case of state vs. Victor Sa voie of Montpelier, charged with driving an auto in a careless and negligent man ner, which was returnable before Magis trate H. W. Scott in city court this morning, has been continued to Aug. 30. Counsel for Savoie asked an extension of time in which to locate witnesses and in timated that a jury trial will be re quested. The case grew out of a team an auto collision on North Main street Aug. 1. Motor visitors in Barre yesterday and to-day included Mrs. H. L. Hiller and her son, Hugh Hiller, of New York City, who arrived by motorcycle with side-car at tachment. Mrs. Hiller and her son are spending their two months' vacation touring New England in the motorcycle. Thus far they have greatly enjoyed their trip through Vermont and recommend the motorcycle method as a comfortable and leisurely means of seeing the scenery in the Green Mountain state. Martin for the pant years, has resigned his duties and is moving bis household goods to South Ryegate, where the family will reside. The change is to bit made for the benefit of Mrs. Darling, who has been in declining health for some time. In the long time he has been in Mr. Martin's employ, Mr. Darling's days off" have not aggregated more than two months, which is considered an unuual record in view of the fact that his duties were of a character that ex posed him to all kinds of weather.
