The matter of re-opening the Barre A Montpelier branch of the M. & W. railway, brought up by Messrs. Waters and H. J. M. Jones of the Jones Bro. Co., was favorably received, and in the opinion of Mr. Waters, the line will be opened sometime very soon. The Vermont OMmobile company has decided to utilize about five acres of the land enclosed by the rare track at the old Barre trotting park for rai ms potatoes, since the company re tains a lee on this property. The management but recently sent to a Rockford. 111., nursery company for 4.- 000 potato eyes, but being unable to procure them was eompellea to searcn neighboring districts for the highest quality seed.
