Archambault received a telegram yesterday stating that her uncle, Vitalian Pauxe. had died at his home in Montreal. Mrs. Archambault left yesterday afternoon t6 attend the funeral. Henry Broadfoot of Providence, R. I., formerly of this city, and who is employed during the school year as an instructor in physics in a high school in Providence, is visiting friends in Barre and Cabot for a week or more. The name of Hugh James Cole was omitted from the list of Barre young men and young women getting de grees from the University of Vermont as 'printed in yesterday's paper. He received the degree of B. tS. in chem istry. .Mrs. A. Rizzi and three children of Willey street have departed fof De troit," Mich., going there to join Mr. Rizzi, who left during the Tabor trou ble in Barre to secure employment. Another transaction of im portance to transpire in the Perry Real Kstate oftice was the deal in which James Matheson and Gra Matheson of Williamstown conveyed their home place to Joseph' Jaequea and wife of thU city. Mr. and Mrs. Jacques plan to take possession as soon as possible. Addie M. Jackson, in a transaction yes terday, conveyed her home place on Merchant street extension to George C. Hutch and Father M. Mrs. N. D. Tlielps of Park street left for Boston yesterday to attej)d the Pilgrim memorial centennial meeting there. The remainder of the week will be spent with friends in Lynn, Mass. Mr. Morgan, engineer for Thomas M. James, architect, of Boston was in town yesterday to look over the new location for the People National lnk, on the ground floor of the Aldrich block. The work on the new bank is to start as soon as possible and will take several months to complete, it is thought. There will be alterations both in the space to be occupied and in the whole block, it was announced, and new equipment will be installed in tbi1 building. The entire construction will be in the hands of T. M. James of Boston. The Rutland Herald had the follow ing account of the marriage, Saturday, of Miss Lucille Kleanor Gravestein, a former drawing teacher in the Barre schools, to Kdgnr Thomas Perkins of Rutland: '-Kdgar , Thomas Perkins of North Main street and Miss Lucille Eleanor Gravestein of Rutland were quietly married Saturday evening at 8 o'clock at the Baptist parsonage by Rev. G. W. Peck. J lie bride wore a tan suit and a dark hat. They will make their home at 2U1 North Main street. The bride is a graduate of the Boston Art school and Bridgewater Normal school and has taught in Barre and Richmond, Mass., for several years.-' Floyd A. Mitchell, son of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Mitchell, left on the 7:10 train this morning for West Point, X. Y., where he will enroll in the gov ernment military training college. A niTmber of his friends and neighlmrs were present at the station to bid him goodbye. Mr. Mitchell ia perhaps one of the" youngest men to receive an ap pointment to this government school and the result of his examinations re flects splendidly both on himself and on the public schools of Barre. where he received his training. W lien lie took his competitive examination at Xorthtield last November he was the only high school student among seven college or graduate men and his rank was the highest. In December he re ceived his appointment from Senator Carroll S. Page. His excellent phy sique, due no doubt to the fact that most of his life has lieen spent on his father's farm, resulted in hi passing the phvsical examination at Burling ton in March. He later received order to report at the school July 1. Mr. Mitchell is only 18 years old and was a member of the graduating class at Spaulding high school this June, taking second honor. Barre takes pride in the honor as well as do his parents, and his success will be watched with in fTATERRURY Last Sunday was children's day at I the Methodist church and the exercises were much enjoyed. It is worthy of note that Mrs. R. H. Crossett has been leader of the primary class in that church fur 4H years in succession, oe- ing now SO years of age. A church niih a member as faithful as this is fortunate. WASHINGTON L. G. YanHorn left June 28 for his home in Chicago.
