Miss In a be He Nelaon has returned to her duties at the Mrs. Shepard Co. store after a month's vacation spent at her home in Braintree, Mans., Al bany, N. Y., and Springfield, Mass. She also attended the live model demon stration of La Resista corsets in New York for a week. Gordon Eager returned yesterday from Springfield to stay for a short time with his parents on Prospect street. Until within a comparatively short time he x resided in Barre, but recently he bought out a lunch room in Springfield and 'went there to man age it. He has now sold the lunch room. Before shutting off the Orange wa ter supply to complete the repair of the break in the cement-lined pipe on the East Barre road, members of the water department inspected the Bolnter reservoir and found it so low that it was considered inadvisable to complete the repairs at this time. The water department, reinforced by men from the street depsrtment, are at work to day cleaning the Scott brook reservoir, which has not len ined heretofore this season, and the supply from this, when the cleaning is completed, ill supplement the water supply from the Bolster and Martin brook reservoirs, i n which the city depends when the h'gh pressure Orange reservoir is shut off. It is expected that the repairs .vill be completed Saturday afternoon and Sunday, but residents of the city should bear in mind that it may In come necessary to shut off the high pressure line and supply the city en tirely from the BoUter reservoir with out previous notice, and residents in the higher parts of the city will do well to keep an emergency supply of water on hand. Dowera is taking her annual vacation from her duties aa bookkeeper at the Smith A Turn ings store and together with her sis ter, Winnifred, and Mr. and Mrs. Giy George, left for Woodbury pond to spend a week in camp. Yesterday was the last day in which taxes could be paid without additional costs to the " taxpayers. Over $00,000 was paid into the city treasury during the day. How much of the taxes re mained unpaid City Treasurer Mackay had not had time to compute this fore noon. One of the best arranged and played programs of the Reason was given by the Barre City band last evening, un der the leadership of T. R. Merrill. An unusually large number of automobiles together with the crowds gathered on the park and lawns nearby apprecia ted the work of the band for the ap plause was marked and often and many encores nrere given. It is sel dom that so much favorable comment about the playing of the band ia heard as of late. The concerts will continua through this month. RANDOLPH Miss Maude Johnston ia taking a two weeks' vacation from her duties at the Half Century store, and Tues day left town for a several days stay, her mother accompanying her. Anoth er sister, Miss Margaret Johnston of Lebanon, N. H., is passing several (Fiys here with Mrs. W. F. Edson, her sis ter. Will A. George, who was called east, by the death of his daughter in Wash ington, D. C, started on his return trip to California on Monday night, rnd bis daughter, Miss Floaence George, who has been here for several months, ac companied him home. Mr. George lives at Covin, Cal. The friends of Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Ketchum, with the members of the Relief corps and the G. A. R., gave a surprise to them on Monday night to assist them in celebrating the 40th anniversary .of their wedding. The eve ning was made pleasant by social inter course and congratulations to the cou ple, who had been so long together. Refreshments of ice cream and cake were served by the company tnd a general good time enjoyed. Thyllis Farr of Hancock has come to the sanatorium for a second oper ation by Dr. Gilford, aa she has not been well for many months.
