This is tre fifth cae of the paralysis to develop in the state this year. One was in Sartons River, one in Lower Cabot and two in Burlington. ' Louis P. Shaw, meteorologist in charge of the local station of the ' United States weather bureau, reports a mnn tem perature of 60 degrees in Northfleld during June, which is three degrees be low the normsl temperature for the month. The highest was 89 degrees, on the KM, and the lowest was 31 de grees, on the 5th. The greatest daily range was 4.1 degrees, on the 20th and the least daily range was eight de grees on the 11th. The precipitation amounted to -2.5(1 inches, the normal for the month being 3.23 inches. The prevailing wind waa from the south, the total movement 4,CS miles, the average hourly velocity S.8 miles, and the maximum velocity 29 miles per hour, from the northwest on the 13th. The month was made up of five clear, 18 partly cloudy and seven cloudy days. Precipitation in quantity suffi cient to measure occurred on 11 days. Solar halo were noted on the 2d, 6th and flth, thunderstorms on the Hth. 13th, 18th, 23d and 28th, a light frost on the 2d and a heavy frost on the Btk. Very interesting Fourth of July ex ercises were held here Monday fore noon, including th dedication of a soldiers' monument, the program be ing carried out on the plot of ground in front of the G. A. R. building, which was particularly advantageous for such a gathering, a large numDer attend ed. ' The exercises were conducted by Col. H. S. Foster, who proved the right man for the place, and the program consisted of music by a fife and drum corps and addresses by John R. Wil son, commandef of the state G. A. R., W. E. Bliss, John W. Gordon of Barre, ex-Senator J. B. Estee of Montpelier and E. H. Clowse, principal of the Richmond high school. The soldiers monument was un veiled by Miss Barbara Bliss and con tains a bronze tablet which bears the names of the men from Calais who fought in six wars the Revolution ary, 1012, Mexica, Civil, Spanish-American and World war. Of those who fought in the Revolutionary war, there are 19 names; 1!12, 46 names; Mexi can war, 3; Civil war, 160; Spanish- American war, 3; World war, 34, a to tal of 26. In the afternoon a basket picnic orn-i eluded the day's celebration and was enjoyed by a large number of towns people and others.
