A lively fire occurred Thursday on Ascutney mountain which was plain ly visible from all surrounding towns. The private camp of H. E. Foster was destroyed ' with all its contents, in cluding Mr. Foster's clothing, food supplies, tools and records. Mr Foster estimates his loss at about fc'iOO. ' He was badly burned on the hands trying to rescue some of his belongings. HOWE-PERKINS. Rutland Newspaper man ana Kuxiana Musician Married. i Rutland, Dec, 15 Miss Helen L. Per kins, well known in Rutland musical circles, became the bride to-day of "Edmund P. Howe, local newspaper i man, at a home wedding held at the i home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert C. Per kins of North street, parent! of Miss Perkins. The ceremony was performed at noon by Rev. James Elmer McKee, yowir people standing under. a large white bell during the nuptials. The decorations of the home were in keep, ing with tho Christina seaon. C. A. Johnson of North Main street plaved the wedding march. The couple were unattended, only members of the two families beinsr present. These in cluded former Licut.-Gov. - and Mrs. Frank E. Howe of Bennington, parents of tho groom, and hit brother, Paul C. The bride is a graduate of the Rut ! land high school, class of 1015. She studied the orran under Tertius T. No ble in New York for two years and was afterwards organist of the Epis copal church in Shclburne, later pre siding over the organ in Trinity church in this city. She has taught both the or (ran and the Jjiano. Mr. Howe graduated from Benning ton high school in 1915 and was a member of the class of 1919 at Dart mouth college, leaving the institution , to enter the armv at the opening of if the World war. He was in the service for two years and was with the 23d Infantry, 2d division, overseas, hold ing a commission of first lieutenant. He is manager of the circulation de partment of the Rutland News. ' Clock. .. ' Dr. H. A. Eliot of Barnet is the own er of an old clock with an interesting history. This clock is of the banjo style with brass work and was once the property of Mary Baker Eddy. Dr. Eliot's father purchased this clock at an auction of Mrs. Eddy' per sonal property in Rumney, N. H , be-, fore 1868 while she was the wife of Pr, Patterson. Dr. Patterson wenf south during the war and his wife sold out her belongings and left Rumney. The cloak has been In the Eliot fam ily ever tines it left Mrs. Eddy's hand so there is no question as to its identi ty. It is in fine condition and keeps perfect time. One on Sandy Daniels. The fox pa trol of the Mrlndoea scouts are looking for traces of James R. Mowry, who disappeared from the home of his un cle, Oliver Staple, near the railroad crossing a mile below Mrlndoes about noon Monday. Dec. 5. He may have boarded the" aouth-bound freight, or hava hailed a passing auto, or started off oa foot.
