West Bolton had its first military funeral of a veteran of the World war Sunday in the burial with full honors of Arl'ie H. Guyette, corporal of Com pany M, 67th Pioneer infantry, former 1st Vermont infantry. Richmond post, No. 34, American Legion, performed the military rites, with Tast Com mander B. W. Randall officiating. The firing squad, bugler, bearers and chaplain were furnished by Richmond post, rt-merican Legion. More than 200 per- ns attended the funeral. The body ff the veterean arrived in Rich mond from France, on Friday last. Corporal Guyette was one of the most popular young men of his vicinity, in pre-war days. HOWE SCALE CO. CUTS WAGES. Employes' Pay Lessened by 50 Cents a Day. ' ' - Rutland, Jan. 12. In carrying out Its readjustment plans the Howe Scale company has reduced the pay of its employes CO cents a day. The company has resumed opera tions following the usual shut down at New Year's for the purpose of tak ing inventory and making repairs and about 50, employes have been laid off temporarily. - While the greater part of the plant is operating on a four-day-a-wwk schedule, there are departments which are working five days, and in some in stances employes are able to get in sis days' work a week. - i 1 GIFT OF $7,000. un a irt r?,.Ai T)9t4. The Dart mouth Outing Club has announced tne gift- -art atfditienal-eunt "tyf $ 7;M)f, to the elub's' "Rum and Molasses Fund" by Rv. J. E. Johnson '08, of Phila delphia, the patron of the club and its moat generous and consistent benefac tor. The "Rum and Molasses Fund was founded several years ago by Rev. Johnson for the purpose of "providing good cheer at the cabins" and the en dowment is used to defray the expenses of the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the club's Moose mountain cabin and other dinners given by the club. Announcement has also been made of a gift in memory of Melvin O. Adams '71, of Boston, of a cabin three miles frora Hanover on the old Gover nor's road toward the reservoir. The new addition to the Outing club chain of cabins will be nearer, to Hanover than any other and will be used ex tensively for "feeds" and banquets. The cabin is the gift of the class of 1871. Walter Cobb, 45, of Brattleboro, Vt., was ar rested by postal inspectors of Boston yesterday on charge of having sent im proper pictures through the mails from Haverhill Mass, to this city.
