They enjoyed and appreciated the many courtesies extended them by the public-spirited peo ple of Hendersonville, and were loud in their praise of the moun tain scenery surrounding the town. Their trip to Osceola Lake and Mt. Hebron was one they will long remember, the hotel accomo dations were fine and the reso lution of thanks adopted by the convention testifies- to their ap preciation of the town's efforts to make them feel at home. Miss Walker Freeman of Ger ton, visited her sister, Mrs. W. M. Conner, the past week. H. W. Allen, of Henderson- 11 - a vine, was circulating among friends in this section last week. Rev. G. W. Connor went to Buffalo last Sunday to preach. Vol. Shepherd, of Crab Creek, was seen this section last week. Ewart Connor has returned to Old Fort, N. C. N. G. William and his young wife accompanied them home. The Children's Day ' exercises at the Methodist church Sunday the 20 th inst. was a decided sue-. cess. A very large crowd attend ed as , usual. The church was crowded. And a good many mothers stayed out with their babies. Quite a crowd of men folks had to stay out too, be- - cause mere was not room enough for them. The pastor Rev. Wesley Will iams conducted the opening ex ercises and made a short address on "Following the Example of Christ." After which the Sunday School children carried out the splendid program without a sin gle hitch and the Choir consisting mostly of the Corpenings and their family connections afforded splendid music. Among those in attendance we note: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Patton f rom Pis gah Forest, Mrs. M. J. Orr, Miss Daisy Orr, Miss. Ara Lankford. Miss McLean, and others from Brevard; J. M. Rhodes! and family, H. W, Allen, Bonnie Brooks and others from Hender sonville; J. 0. Johnson and fam ily, Horse Shoe. Some of our farmers have the blues on account of the unfavor able weather. Many are trying to harvest their small grain. But the ram keeps coming. Some seem to think this is a bad crop year, but we dont see it that way.
