Despite the apparent efforts of tho
Board of County Commissioners to
squat on the main highway- of agricul
tural progress in Henderson county.'

fusing to furnish any of the county's
funds for demonstration worn, in:?rq

ter close at heart and it is highly prob
able that Demonstrator Perkins will
remain wit.h -lis and continue his good

Henderson county wants a demon
' strator but the authorities pretend
; that the county is too poor to" afford

Transylvania county wants , a dem
onstrator and has been wanting one
for a long time, and we understand
has raised money fOr the" purpose, but
for some reason a demonstrator has
not been employed. .
A movement is on foot, looking to the
raising of enough money in these
counties, by private subscriptionand
otherwise'' as was done -last year in
Henderson countyf, and turn Mr. Per
kins loose "with - instructions to "do
business" just as he has been doing
to fine advantage.
We fear that owing to unreasonable,
opposition in some quarters it would,
be difficult to raise enough money ii
Henderson county to employ Mr. Per
kins for another year, and we hate the
Idea of parting with his valuable .ser
vices in whole or in part. But, if the
real progressive element of Henderson
their , heads together and without a
burden on any one, raise seven or
eight hundred dollars; to be supple
mented with an equal amount from
the government the work win be as
sured. Mr. Perkins could make these
