Young were standing the examination for a state license to teach. Miss Battle did not enter the examina tion at all. Miss Christmas and Mr. Young ditl enter and secured tlie state certilicates. 1 his state certificate -is a license to teach anywhere in the state for the next three years. His main theme was politics from j Washington to the present time. One of the parties has favored protec tive tariff from the beginning, while the other has opposed it from the beginning. Mr. Mclver is well up on the political topics of the day, but he was entirely uon-partisan in his remarks. Mrs. Mclver favored the audience with a reading which was very much enjoyed.
