The high school boys have won four out of their five conference games played so far this season, and will j this week attempt to keep up their j good record. The Oxford Orphanage | team is the only combination which has been able to beat Henderson, and j this was done by a margin of only 1 two points. The Tar Heels and Blue Devils, tied for first place In the group's stand ing, will meet this week in a game that may or break the championship hopes of each. The Blue Devila, defending cham pions knocked N. C. State from the undefeated class Saturday night by winning, 28 to 18. The game left the standing looking like this: Won. Lost. The Tar Heel boxers beat V. P. I. last night, 6 to 1, but the wrestlers lost to the Virginianas, 11 to 21. Dukes wrestlers were beaten by V. M. I. by a score of 19 to 9. The Heel wrest lers and boxers will try conclusions with the V. M. I. Cadets next Saturday Davidson’s mat men get into action the same day against Washington and Lee. Duke’s pugs meet N. C. DAVIDSON SQUADS FACESTiFF WEEK Three Wildcat Team* Have Four Engagement* For Coming Week Davidson, Jan. 25.—Davidson’s Col lege’s winter athletic schedule is re sumed this, week after a ton-day re- cess for mid-term examinations, and three of the Wildcat team will en gage in four contests during the com ing six days. In addition, winter foot ball training will start Monday and continue for the next six weeks. Coaches Monk Younger and Tex Tilson. who go to V. P. I. as coaches in June, will again be in charge of the Davidson grid aspirants as they engage in their winter workouts. The schedule calls for an intensive course in footoall fundamentals which form tho groundwork for the more serious , training during the fall campaign to , come. AH football men who are out for [ some other sport will report for the 1 practices .and uniforms will be issued J to 50 or 60 candidates. The Wildcat varsity cage team, with two defeats and no victories to its credit so far, resumes its chase of Big Five laurels this weekend when they wifi meet the Duke University Blue Devils at Durham Friday night. A game with Guilford here Tuesday evening will initiate the competitive activities of the Davidson teams for the week. This number has been conser vatively estimated by the physical education department, headed by Capt. Norton G. Pritchett and assisted by Heath Whittle, and does not take into consideration a vast number of men who have daily taken exercise in un organized sports in the physical edu cation program here. No accurate record has been kept of the actual participation, but in pre paring this report, the officials were careful not to exaggerate, and were more inclined to list a smaller num ber in each sport than actually par ticipated.
