THIRD PARTY HINT MAY ACT TO HOLD CONGRESS ON JOB (Continued from Pagiy one.) 4* try's millions of destitute. Wason .to be sure, was in a state of acute alarm whan he spoke, Jue to Senator William E. Borah's warn ing, just uttered, that to hold the con ventions with the unemployment pro blem still wide open, probably would serve as the one push needed to launch a third party movement. Both G. O. Borah is the only insurgent of whom they are much afraid. Senator Norris they consider too old to stand the wear and tear of a nationwide fight; Senator La Follette as too light a weignt; his brother Phil, the governor of Wisconsin, as too young; Senator Bronson Cutting of New Mexico, though a “coming man," as not yet fully “arrived,'' Gov ernor Pinchot of Pennsylvania as de ficient in popular appeal; the re doubtable Senator H*ey P. High Point Pointers came from behind to win from Greensboro Pats last night 7-6. With the bases full in the ninth inning, Chapman, Pat pitcher, hit Gilliland with a pit ched ball to force in the winning run. Tar* Lose Four Straight. The Wilmington Tars lost their fourth straight contest yesterday, dropping a game, to Winston-Salem Twins, 4-3. In losing this game, the Tars lost the services of their short stop, Noonan, who broke a leg slid ing into second base in the first frame. Burns allowed the Twins seven hits and was largely responsible for his loss by reason of a wild throw to first in the eighth on an easy out that let in two Twin runs. really intended the hint, which so greatly exercised Senator Watson, to imply a willingness to accept leader ship of a progressive uprising similar to the late Senator La FolletL’s in 1924. Old guardsmen, Republican and Democratic alike, were quick to sei se that the merest suggestion from him of such availability would, at any rate, instantly arouse (is it actually has done) every third party instinct in all classes of political mavericks.
