Ldith Ellis Class With Miss Wester I'ne Edith Ellis Bible Class of the First Baptist church Met Monday evening ..i the home of Miss Dorothy Wester on Voting avenue. The president, Miss Mary Hughes presided. Miss Dorothy Wester opened the meeting by leading the First Psalm, loiiowed by the Lord's Prayer. During tin* business session, it was decided to have a rummage sale on Saturday week. The program was m charge of Miss Ruth Evans. Miss Gladys Singleton won a Bible contest. The hstess nerved delicious refresh ments to fifteen members. Shower Given For A Recent Bride The home of Mrs. W. G. Ellington in the Dabny community, was the • cene o fan enjoyable occasion Wed nesday afternoon when neighbors and friends were entertained at a mis cellan *ous shower given in honor of Mrs. Brooks Ellington, who was form erly Miss Annie Selby, of Washing ton, N. C. Colorful fall flowers were used in profusion in the different rooms and hall. Th guests were met by Mrs. W. G. Ellington and Mrs. Stanley Ellington and invited into a room where a book had been prepared to list advice to the bride. Aftei each one had con tributed advice they were then invited into the living room where many' games, contests and stunts were en joyed. At the conclusion of the games a messenger boy arrived with a mes sage for the bride. On reading the message i; was found that every one was invited into the dining room where a table v. us found laden with many beautiful and useful gifts for the bride. Mrs. Ellington ccmed a delicious course consisting of banana and straw verry ice cream with Angel and dev. food cake. Those enjoying Mrs. Ellington’s hos pitality were, Mrs. S. T. A. held its first 1 Tie.eting of the year Tuesday evening <f last ween. A complete outline of work for the ; first half of the year was rkad to the i association. Committees were ap- j pointed for the various branches of j work. The association is looking forward to a good year's work. The president is asking for cooperation equal to that shown in the past. With specific plans laid out and with willink workers a great amount of good can be done for the children of the Dabney school this year. The last Thursday in each month war set aside for the regular meeting •imp.
