Music Lovers Hold Saturday Meeting' The Music Lovers Club held a very delightful meeting last Saturday aft ernoon at the home of Miss Anna Mae Bruin on Chestnut Street. After a short business session, a splendid program was given, the subject being “Christ mas Observances and Carols of Other Countries.” Miss Nellie Kittrell told of Yule tide customs in England. France. Ttaly and Germany, and Miss Rebecca Pat terson. of those in Norway, Iscland, Sweden and Denmark. Miss Mary Ware Bruin gave a. re citation entitled “My Wish" and Miss Grace Bryan sang "Away in a Mang er." Piano selections wore most pleas ingly rendered by Misses Minerva Faulkner, Viola May Hoyle, Emma Leo Hawkins, and Re’recca Patterson. Everyone present joined heartily in singing favorite Christmas carols. During the social hour a contest was held and the hostess served de j licions refreshments. HENDERSON, (N. Mission Society At Plank Chapel Has Celebration The Woman's Missionary Society o*‘ Plank Chapel Methodist church held a public meeting of more than usual interest on Sunday afternoon, when they observed the annual Harvest Day and also celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of their organization. The Society was organized in 1910 when Mrs. F. B. MoKinne, then sec retary of the Raleigh District and Miss Mary Peseud. on furlough from her work in Brazil, visited the church. Tin* auxiliary has functioned regular ly for this twenty-five years. As an outgrowth, is the younger women's S.allic I .on McKinnon Society. After a worship service of thanks giving and praise, conducted by the pastor. Rev. B. (_). Merritt, the pro gram was directed by Mrs. T. R. Smith, president of the auxiliary. Special music by Mrs. T. C. Gill and Mrs. W. P. Wilson was a pleasing feature of the program. i'he Harvest in gathering reports of the work of the church as a whole was given by Rev. B. O.
