A very timely sermon was preach ed by Rev. W. W. Rowe at the Re f'imed church yesterday morning at the 11 o'clock service. Mr. Rowe tcck as his text 2 Kings 14--24 "And he did that which was evil in the bight of thi Lord: He departed not (rem all the- sins of Jeroboam, the son -,f Nef. it, who made Israel to sin." It was emphasized that it must have i een very tiresome for the peopie of the Kingdom of Israel to go on liv ir.tr a life ox .wickedness over and over for a neriod cf 250 years. It is rai instructive chapter cf history. When a king or a people starts out tr be bad. before they are through thev will find it tiresome and unin teresting and slow. Of course, that has not been the common idea about sin. Men think that goouness is .ne unints resting and okl-fahioned affair, and that sin is the entertaining thing, anything but slew. Sinners often cultivte the manner of being and the man who buys are both vio lating the law. With tragedy after tragedy all around us it is time that 'he people arouse themselves anrl take their stand on tne side ot tne forces that make for righteousness. Which kind of a life shall we choose? There is but one sure way to escape the doom that lies in cae bottom of the wine cup. and that is never to touch it.
