GARTH A business and social meeting 'of the Christian Endeavor Society cf the First Presbyterian church was held at the home of Mrs. Voorheis Garth last night and very much enjoyed by the large crowd present. The usual business session was held followed, by a social hour during which a puzzle contest was held. A:i especially amusing feature of the ev ening was th? contest in which the guests with the aid of ' a toothpick and chewing gum formed elephants uii a piece cf cardboard. Much fun resulted from the fish ing pond, the guests fishing for fa vors on which their fortune was writ ten. During the evening the hostess served a delicious salad course. B. Y. P. V. MISS SPRINGS HOSTESS Yesterday afternoon Miss Ileler i-piings was hostess at an interesting meeting of the Do As You Please Club at her home cn Twelfth avenue. In addition to the club members those present were Miss Katherir.e Shuford, Miss Evangeline Etley, Miss Lucy Poindexter. Mrs. C. C. Gamble, Mrs. Munth, house guest of Miss Frances Geitner, Mrs. Ar thur Courtney and Mrs. E. C. John son. During the business ssssion the club decided to adopt for another year Maria Robert, an eight year old French orphan, who has been their ward for the past two years. Miss Robert's father was killed during th: world war and the little maid is left alcne with her mother. The club sends clothing to France fcr the little girl also nearly $50 a year for hc-v maintenance. To Taise funds for her the club will hold an apron sale in spring. After the business meeting the icgular program was enjoyed with the hostess outlining in brief ner bcok 'The Drums of Jeopardy' by Peter B. Kine. reading a biographi cal sketch of his life Assisted bv Mrs. E. C. Johnson the Irtess served a salad course after which the club adjourned to meet two weeks later with Miss Katharine Taylor. EXCHANGING PULPITS There is a general exchange of pulpits in Concord Presbytery Sun day. Dr. E. M. Craig will be in Marion and Rev. J. C.
