The session was featured by a nurn her of enlightening and inspiring addresses, most of them bearing di rectly on Wesley Bible crass work and all full of, value to all Sunday school workers and classes. Those addressing the federation were O. V. Woosley of Lexington Sunday school field secretary; Pr. Watson, of Washington, D. C; Rev. E. R. Stanford, Rev. W. C. Ow.ens, M. W. Brabham, Miss Lucy Foreman. Dr. Freeman- and Mrs. J. W. Nance, of Salisbury: Rev. II. G. Hardin, Rev. W. A. Jenkins, and D. E. Henderson of Charlotte. An interesting feature of the ses sion was the raising of funds suffi cient to erect a beautiful electric -n s. about 20x8 feet, on the top cf a high mountain overlooking the lake. This cross was suggested by Hon. J. R. McRary, of Lexington, at first annual meeting of the federa tion. The first Sunday in April was de signated each year as "Christian Ed cation Day." and a committee was named to confer with all Sunday schools with reference to the estab lishment of a chair of religious edu cation in which Sunday school train ing work is to be taught. Mr. Woodley, field secretary, says the meeting was a great success, and Hyre are none who disagree with him. ,. That was not all. The storm sewers broke at the corner of Twelfth street and Thirteenth avenue and the water backed up in oth'r sewers for many blocks. The drains were not half lare;e enausjn to carry off the rain. Th,o rain measured 2.80 inches Saturday night and on Sun- day afternoon where another visita - tion occurred, measured .So of an inch. The scene from Carolina park through the bottom to Twelfth street was bad in the extreme. Half th ? land was under water and two base ments were iilled. Some chickens also were drowned, it was stated. There is just one tiii i,r to be done about the situation and that is for the property-owners to g't together and build a culvert through their lands large enough to carry off storm -.vater and for the city to provide a means for taking caiv of it as it rushes under its street:.. The Thir teenth avenue crossing is as muddy as any country road.
