Murphy has returned from Forest City and Cherryville where she spent Thanksgiving. At the latter place she was the guest of her daughter. Miss Mary Murphy, who is teaching music in Cherry ville rhis year. Mr. Kenneth S. Menzies, who spent Thanksgiving with his parents here, was an occupant in the Cham bers building at Davidson College, destroyed by fire early yesterday, but he has written home that nobody was injured. At the revocation of the Edict of Nan tes in 1685 his father left France and settled in Alsace on the Rhine. After the death rf his father he ' went to Amsterday in Holland and i later came to America. He married I Maria Bergner a natice of Switzer land. He settled in North Carolina about 1754. i Jacob Forney and wife were the parents of Christina who married David Abernethy and Susan who married John D. Abernethy. General Peter Forney was a,'. son lef Jacob Forney and wife. He mar ried' Nancy a daughter of David Abernethy of Lincoln county.
