After postponing the regular meet

chautauqua, the Business and Profes
sional Women's ' club met in the Ki
wanis hall last 'night, enjoyed . a
spread, took part in a well 'prepared
program and showered the club's first
bride, Mrs Noble Shumate, formerly
Miss , Josephine Dysart.(
Misses Mabel Hight and Ocie Long
had charge o'fi the program which con
tained variety and great deal of
fun. A long table was arranged
through the center of the room and
held several bowls of bright garden
flowers. The club members and sev
eral guests took their places around
the table while the regular routine of
business was dispatched. The presi
dent read a card from the first vice-
president, Miss Sadie' Menzies, who is
touring the west with a party. Miss
Menzies sent her greetings to the
club on a "picture of the grand can
yon where she was visiting that day.
Mrs. ,E. B. Menzies read the address
of the state federation president which
was given at the annual meeting in
Asheville. ;
;Misses Edward : Clement, Dorothy
Ivey and Hermene'iWarlick were, vis
itors ;and featured -ithe program with
musical selections..; Accompanied by
Miss Ivey Miss Clement sang and
Miss Warlick gave a piano number.
The : performers were liberally ap-
pjanded and came" hack with encores.
The roll was then called while each
girl gave the date on which her next
birthday anniversary occurs. Miss
Mabel Miller's came next and she was
presented with a birthday present, a
pretty linen handkerchief. Much fun
resulted from guessing the identity
of .the baby picture. This turned out
to be the club president.
Following this came a .feast. The
girls had brought along sandwiches,
deviled eggs, cake,, candy and fruit
and these were spread upon-the table

numerous packages, which she placed
