Sergeson, of Philadelphia, is spending- his summer vacation at Mr. A. A. Connelly's, inMorganton. Mr. I. I. Davis, who has been confined at home for several weeks with sciatica, is now able to be out again with the aid of crutches. The indications are that a large crowd will go on the excursion to be runonthe21st from Newton to Asheville by the young ladies of the Pres byterian church here. Mr. J. S. Cowen, of Mc Dowell county, is clerking for Mr. J. W. Taylor, who re cently opened a grocery store in the Pearson building one door below Lazarus Bros. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Johnson, of New Orleans, Rev. Neilson Falls and Mr. and Mrs. John Green, of Washington, D. C, Mr. George Stephens, of Char lotte, Misses Catherine Laney and May Davis, of Monroe, and Miss May Carlton, of Statesville are among recent arrivals here. - i. - We have tried for the past year to get a line of Shoes that we could put on the market with an absolute guarantee with every pair that we send out.
