Despite his winning the contest, he did not receive the $50 Wilmington College scholarship. He has already won two from that college and, sine* that college is only r. two-year institution, the schol arship went to the runner-up. Gayle "bit the duM" on the word "lariat" when she added an "e." Chip then spelled the v.ord correctly anil was named winner. G..yle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theo Connor of Fair Bluff, seemed a little crest fallen but then she realized thai she was the "other" win i-.t.·. Terry Austin, nine-year-old fourth grader from Acme-Doi co. lost on "dying." spelling it "dieing." School Supt. T. Ward Guy >aid that Terry was the young est contestant ever to part κ i p»iU in the county contest. Terry's twin sister Toni went to t:.t contest to lend moral support. Community Hospital, grown from a puny infant that some gavi little chance to survive, to a $750,000 power for good health in upper Horry county, celebrates its 12th birthd'iy Sunday and this time is plan ned for all. Festivities at the hospital will begin at 2:30 p. m. with some 4.600 "babies" born dur ing the 12 years of the hospit al's operation, invited as guests of honor. There'll be gas filled bal loons for all the children, ire cream and cake and prizes for (he oldest Community I Hospital baby on hand, for the mother who has given birth to the most children at the hospital, and to the Com "limit> Hospital baby who travelled the greatest dist ance to come to the celebra tion. All the gala events will be televised, with Ben McDonald bein^- broadcast over Radio Station YLSC. At the 2:30 p. m. ceremonies to which all are invited, th( invocation will be given bj the Rev.
