Stocks of Nakina. Frances Ann Ben ton and Lou Gore were Co host ess. Fefreshments of punch, nuts and cake and potato chips were served to approximately thirty guests. The honoree was showered with many nice and useful sifts. Mrs. Estaleen Faulk shared hostess duties. The Bethel Home Demons· stration Club met at the home of Mrs. Frank Ward Tuesday July 23. Mrs. Ward gave the devotkm. Mrs. Essie PoWell presided and gave the demon stration on Decorative Trim ming. The hostess served ap ple pie ami ice cream to the I six members present. The Young Married Class of Bethel Methodist Church held a Picnic at the Lloyd Hinson's Saturday afternoon. Only elev en were present. Mrs. Mitchell Strickland and I Mrs. Lloyd Hinson were hon |ored Sunday with a dinner at the Hinson home the occasion being their birthday. Those present were—Lloyd, Ronald and Elaine Hinson, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Hinson, Roy Trest, Jr., Mitchell and Kent Strick land, Gaynell Powell, Mrs. Ressie. Etta and Rodney Hin son were afternoon visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Etlis had as their guests Friday night Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sellers of YVhiteville. They en joyed barbecued chicken. Mrs. Carrie Ward, Mrs. Dean Currie and Mrs. Margaret Bomar were shopping in Wil mington last week. Mrs. Carrie Jacobs spent last Tuesday night with Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Soles of Tabor City. Mr. and Mrs. John D. Jor dan, Pauline. Carlton and Chris and Beppy Cook of Burlington, and Mr. and Mrs. Lance Ja cobs and Spencer Strickland of Orlando, Fla., were visiting here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Gore and Mary Ruth and Dr. Wil liam Stout of Tabor City were guests ol' Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hinson Ronald and Elaine last j Wednesday Night. They en joyed a charcoal steak dinner. Mrs. Rachel Ward has re turned home after being a pat ient at Columbus County Hos pital. New Bad Check Law In Horry Now In Effect It looks as though Horry County Police can quit being collection agents and begin to put most of their time to en forcing the law. A new law became effective July 18 relating to criminal ac tion on bum checks. Under the new law on war rant can be issued until pay ment on the check has been refused and written notice has boon mailed seven days previ ously to the person who drew the check. Law enforcement officers are then prohibited from accepting payment for the check bus must, instead, bring the accus ed before a magistrate where the person requesting the war rant must face the accused. In the event the accused then compromises the check, a $S fee is added to the total that must be paid. S2 going to the magistrate and $3 covering the cost of serv ing the warrant.
