Marshal Stalin, the great Russian leader said that vic tory is near.. Reports from London also said that the German people. were tired of war. In December General Arnold, who is commander of American air forces, said that air blows will defeat Germany or make it so weak that. an invasion by land would be easy. It was reported that seventeen large cities of Germany have been completely destroyed and six others have been badly damaged, ihe air attacks on German cities are continuing, German officials and people are leaving Berlin, the German c/upitol city, GERMAN SUBMARINE CAMPAIGN FAILS About the end of November President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Chur** chill said that the Germans had lost the submarine battle. They said that in three months sixty German submarines were sunk. Few of our merchant ships were sunk. Most of the supplies and men'sent from the United States to Europe reached Europe safely, LAND INVASION OF WESTERN EUROPE SEELS NEAR . - Moat correspondents feel that early next year a,land invasion of western Europe will be made . The correspondents report that the great commander of all the armies-will be General George Marshal, SLOW UNITED NATIONS GAINS IN ITALY The American and British armies in Italy are advancing slowly. They. have captured the mountain range held by the Germans, The Germans are fighting hard, In December an Italian army fought in the battle against the Germans. TURKEY MAY HELP UNITED NATIONS When the great United Nations-, met at the city of Teheran the President of the country called Turkey also joined them. We do not know exactly what the leaders'agreed upon about Turkey, Most reports cay that aurkey will give help to the Unitod Nations but will not fight. Many people believe we will soon have air fields in Turkey.
