For more than a half century the American Negro put his hopes, ambitions and
aspirations in the hands of the Republican Party, lie tiusted its leaders implicity and
when they failed him he believed they had done the best they could. But during the
past eight years under the administration of President Roosevelt the Negro has been
able to gain more in the way of .jobs and assistance from a party to which it has con
tributed practically nothing, than he received during the previous 12 years from the
party he had served for 50 years. Thus, it seems the Negro is going to turn a deaf
ear to the Republicans again this year, simlpy on the issjie of Performances vs Pledges.
From the looks of things history will repeat itself ... a landslide for Roosevelt.
