Brown has built up a fine reputation on the calibre of acts which he has presented in the past and this is said to be one of his funniest works. The scene is laid in a country general store where the village "slickers" are discussing the times, and Introduce the rehearsal of Rubeville's up-to-date Jazz band. The feature picture "The Code of the Yukon," with Mitchell Lewis, famous star of "Th Barrier" and Tom Santschi, star of "The Spoiler." both ten reel P.ex Beach stories. The play is In six acts and 13 teeminir with thrills and adventure. A very good cast Is In support of these two stars. Other acts on the program aro Walsh and McAvoy, In a comedy singing and dancing act, "At the Beach," La Emma and Boyd, two pretty and shapely girl artists In a sensational aerial turn. ABVFKTISE IX TTTE TIMES Bobby Heath's Revue, a 1919 as sortment of songs and dances, is fea tured In the vaudeville program at Poll's, the first half of the week. This attractive headliner employs half a dozen good looking girls and a very clever comedienne in a delightful potpourri of nonsense of an entertain ing sort. One of stageland's big successes "Cheating Cheaters" is the photoplay feature, starring Clara Kimball Y'oung. In its picturized form, this big "crook" drama attains even more interest than it did on the speaking stage. The Pathe News is another attraction on the film program. Harry Hayward & Company will present a laughable comedy skit call ed "Chickens," and Gray and Parker an entertaining pair, will contribute their "Bits of Vaudeville." Heed & Tucker, in songs and dances; and Arco Bros., In an acro batic novelty, will be other features. Manager Poli announces for the last half of the week, the first New England presentation of "Very Good Kddie." the big musical comedy suc cess that has been adapted for v "de vil". This miniature musical comedy requires an hour In presentation and employs a cast of 20. LYRIC WEST END What William S. Hart himself be lieves to be one fo the best stories he has had for some time and which certainly presents the popular Art craft star at his very best, is "Breed of Men," the scenes of which are laid In the fertile bottom lands of Arizona, and which will be shown at the West Knd theatre tonight. In brief, it de tails the exploits of Wesley B. Pren tice, a land shark who succeeds .n hoodwinking the westerners to their financial loss. "Cupids ray Off," Sennett 2 reel comedy, will also be shown. About now the seed catalogues are very fascinating. But the enormous size of the vegetables therein display ed : makes the gardeners feel their buildings will be wholly inadequate to s'ore the product. If you have never had the oppor tunity of seeing that famous crook play, "Alias. Jimmy Valentine," don't fail to see the interpretation by the Poli Players this week. Paul Armstrong's famous play is a good specimen of the superior sort of melodrama now prevalent on the American stage. It deals with the reformation of the convict, but does it in a light-hearted, theatrically ef fective manner, with several well written scenes. There is one incident of uncommon thrilling power in the last act, when the ex-convict, now a bank' cashier, to prove his devotion to the woman of his heart, exercises his burglarious talents to save the life of a child who has been impris oned In the big vault. The play also exposes the methods employed by the police in many cities to strengthen their stool pigeon sys tem by constantly making life a bur den to crooks who have done time and preventing oftimes the reforma tion of an ex-convict. The play has a record of two years of uninterrupted phenomenal success at the Wallack theaere in New York. Reservations for seats can be made at any time between 9:30 o'clock in the morning and 9 o'clock in the evening. DR. Beard's discussion of the "Re velations of Recent Hartford Hear ings." Referring to the boxing bill now pending in the General Assembly the speaker said, in part: "In reality, the bill is sailing under false colors. It pretends to be a measure in the interests of healthful boxing. In fact it is a bill to legaltee prize fighting here in Connecticut.
