Stratford; Oeh 16 Nothing is too good for us, was the verdict express ed by the citizens of the town last evening when they met to select a sehool site-. The town meeting, which was adjourned from two weeks ago to enable the school board to select several more sites, was called to or der by Chairman Carey at 8 o'clock-. It had been found that the adjourn ed meeting could not legally purchase any other site than that speciSed in the original call and a second warn ing had been issued for a special town meeting to be held at 8:39 last evening. After reading of the min utes, on motion, Chairman Carey de clared the meeting adjourned and announced that the next town meet ing would be called to order at 8:30. During the 20 minute Interval that ensued a number of the citizens en tertained those present. "Mayor" Wellington was introduced and spoke briefly. At S:30 Town Clerk Lovell called the meeting to order. F O. Bhoades was elected chairman. The school com mittee reported that they hail three sites to recommend. First, the prop erty owned by the Beardsley estates. Inc., and Chester Dunlap, fronting on North Parade and extending through to King street. Second, the property at Barnum avenue and King street fronting on Barnum avenue and run ning north on King street. Third, the Bedel! Benjamin property at Broad street and Bearofeley lane. Preference was given by the committee to the Beardsley-IXlnlap property. After considerable discussion it was voted to buy the Beardsley Dunlap tract. IT. S. Beardsley, who was present, stated that he was wiliing to select one appraiser, the town to select another, they two to select a third and agreed to accept he price made by this committee. The site selected is by far the best and most centrally located that could bo ob tained and would -display to adTan tagp lh high school building that will fevehtually be erected and will itlsd aiford ample room for play grounds; It is the intention of the school committee to build a wing of the pro posed new building at onee to relieve the congestion which now existSi This wing to eventually form a part of the new high schooU REPRESENTATIVES OF MANUFACTURERS ATTEND SESSION The National Association of Em ployment Managers will hold their annual convention in New York, Sat urday, at the Hotel Pennsylvania, and a number of the employment manag ers from Bridgeport factories will at tend. STATE BUREAU OF LABOR GAVE AVORK TO 4,359 The state bureau of labor in its re port on the operation of the Ave free employment bureaus for the month of September shows that 6,897 appli cations for employment were made in the state, of which 3,736 were males and 2,161 females. Applications for help numbered 5,300, of which there were 3,054 males and 2,246 females. Situations were secured for 2,482 males and 1,877 females, a total of 4,459.
