Bostic was the mist ress of cere monies, lne Silvertone Quartet rendered 2 selections. A solo entitled Sym phony was sung by Mrs. Mil dred Jones, accompanied by Miss Mary Lee Brockington. An instrumental solo was given by Mrs. Ruth Smoot. A solo was rendered by Miss Eleanor Du rant, accompanied by Miss M. Lee Brockington. An impress ive reading was given by Mrs. Lola Bowley, followed by a solo by Mr. George Austin, Jr., accompanied by Mrs. Bertha Smoot. An additional treat of the evening was a duet by Mr. James Ramsey and Mr. Sterling Bowley. The program was con eluded with several selections by the Douglas Brothers Quin tet. Delicious refreshments were served by the members of the club. Miss Viola Mayo of Boston, Mass., is visiting her brother-in-law, Mr. Smith of Grove Street. Mrs. Clark Bowley and baby son, Woody, have returned from a very pleasant trip. , They left Thanksgiving Day for Marion, Indiana, to visit her son at the Veterans Hospital and stopped in Clarksville, Tennessee to visit relatives. The Clinton A.M.E. Z. Church will present the Victory Jubilee Singers of South Norwalk, Ct., in their regular 4th Sunday musical program. The Junior Missionaries of Clinton A.M.E.Z. Church will give Christmas baskets to the sick and shut-ins of the church. The Girl Scouts of Troop No. 14 will have their regular Xmas party, Saturday, December 21, 1946 at the Macedonia Baptist Church. The Boy Scouts of Troop No. 6 will be their guests. The Reapers Club of Mace donia Baptist Church held their regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Sadie Stanley, Gordon St., New Haven, Saturday, Decem ber 7, 1946. Mrs. Janie Gati spn, presdient. The hostess served delicious refreshments after the meeting. Mr. Israel Coleman of An sonia and New York City 'spent the week-end with his wife, who is convalescing at her father's home on High Street. The Sunday School of Mace donia Baptist Church will have its anual Christmas party at the Church, Thursday night, De cember 26, 1946. Mr. and Mrs. William Lewis, formerly of 14 Beaver Street, has moved into their new home on Liberty Street. Mrs. Sophie Lee of Divsiion Street is spending some weeks in New Hampshire. Mrs. Elsie Silva and family of 222 Emmett Ave., Derby, en tertained the following guests November 30, 1946: Misses Dorothy Richards, Rose Lee Arnold, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Hunter, Jr. A fine and groovy time was had by all until 5 A.M. the next dav. The Girl Scouts of Troop No. 12 will have a Christmas party, December 20, 1946 at the home of Mrs. Rebecca Walker, 3 Clif ton Avenue at 8 P.M. The Misses Pearl Anderson and Marv Silva and Mr. Wil liam Anderson entertained a few guests from New Haven, Bridgeport, ' Stratford, Derby, and Ansonia at the home of Miss and Mr. Anderson, Dec. 7. A very enjoyable time was had by everyone present. De licious refreshments were offered. Reports Heard At Meeting Of Ansonia NAACP The business meeting for the Ansonia Branch of the NAACP was held Tuesday night, Decern; ber 10, 1946 at the Macedonia Baptist Church. The meeting was opened with the Lord's Prayer, led by the president Rev. Julian A. Taylor. The minutes of the last meet ing were ready by the secretary, Mrs. Mary E. Cousins, and re ceived and adopted by the mem bers. The correspondence of the month was read and com mented upon. Among the cor respondence was a notice of the regional meeting at Providence, R. I., Sunday, December 15, 1946. The secretary, Mrs. Cous ins, was elected to represent the Ansonia Branch of the NAACP. A letter was received from the National Board asking the branch to vote upon the in creasing of memberships from $1 to $2 a year. The majority of the members were in favor of the increase. A request was made to send a telegram to President Harry S. Truman to investigate a false arrest that was made in Tennessee. A nominating committee was appointed for the election o? officers as follows: David Wil son, chairman; Ruth Smoot, secretary; Mrs. Delores Boone, George Austin, Sr., and Robert Byrd. The decision of the com mittee was to have the present officers succeed themselves for the ensuing year. Mrs. Ruth Smoot was appointed chairman of the publicity committee and Mrs. Robert Byrd, chairman of the entertainment committee by the president, Rev. Julian A. Taylor. The next meeting will be held Monday, January 20, 8 P.M. at the Macedonia Baptist Church. Sick of Ansonia Miss Elaine Johnson of 89 Broad Street is ill and has been confined to her home. Mr. Louis Jett of 575 Main Street is ill and has been con fined to his home for several days. f Mrs. Augusta Coleman, 45 High Street, is convalescing at her h6me after having under gone an operation in the New Haven General Hospital. Mrs. Anna Allen, of Factory St., is convalescing in Griffin Hospi tal after having an attack of pneumonia. ' Mrs. Millie Bass, 49 Colburn Street, is convalescing after having been quite ill. Mrs. Bertha Thomas of 33 Wooster Street, is convalescing at her home, having been ill for sometime. Tel. 1136 At the annual football ban quet pf the Lavender squad, Thursday evening, Dec. 12, Sam Hoston,was awarded a gift for being the most improved play er. He was also awarded a cer tificate and " will receive a sweater. Among the varsity lettermen awarded insignia were : William Black, Vincent Drake, and Alan Webb. Some of the other members .of the squad present were: Robert Antrum, Robert Gold son and William Jett. The anual program was closed by a dance held in the high school gymnasium.
