Mrs. Mabel McDonald of
Brooklyn, New York, spent the
the week-end in Meriden with
her mother, Mrs. Jessie Pinson,
and some time with her broth
er, Edward Jackson of Middle
town. Rev. T. J. Riddiek, pastor of
Cross Street AME Zion Church
.who has just completed a five
day revival meeting in Dan
bury, will conduct a revival
for Rev. R. W. Gullette, pastor
of the Clinton AME Church of
Ansonia.
The Zion Jubilee Chorus of
Cross Street Church sang at
the South Methodist Church
last Sunday morning. "This is
another step toward the better
ment of race relations. Sing
ing the songs of Zion is a feel
ing of expression which this
group of people, headed by Mr.
Edward Jackson, are trying to
do.
Rev. Sister Barttee, pastor
of the Church of God of Brook
lyn, conducted services for the
Missionary Circle at Cross St.
last Sunday afternoon. Many
attended to see Rev. Barttee
back at Cross Street.
Mr. Floyd Hughes of New
York City visited his family
here last week-end. Mr. Hughes
is the brother of Mrs. Hattie
Garvin.

Matthew 28-6 reads as fol
lows : He is not here : for he is
risen, as he said. Come see the
place where the Lord lay.
These were the words spoken
by the angel to Mary Magda
lene as she approached the
place where our Lord was laid.
Christ's promised' had been
fulfilled. He said that He
would rise on the third day.
As the Christian Church moves
on in our daily life we find that
it exemplifies the true qualities
of brotherhood. As man tra
verses through life his burdens
become very great, therefore,
he has to find courage in the
Christian Church. Although
the unrest of the world keeps
man on edges he is comforted
by the Holy Scriptures and the
teachings of Jesus Christ. In

Mrs. Gertrude Hazard of
Blackslee has returned from
the Waterbury Hospital, where
she recovered from a recent
illness.
We don't talk but we notice

joy the private parties given
in several apartments.

spent last week-end in New
York City at the Hotel Tere
sa, celebrating their fourth
wedding anniversary.
Barbara and Arlene Brown
spent the week-end in Ansonia
visiting Miss Alice Parks of
Orchard Street.
Recently the Girl Scout
Tx-oop- No. 87 took a trip to
New York Citv touring the
RCA Bldg., Radio City and
attending WCBS Radio Show,
"Let's Pretend". Those at
tending were Carolyn Ralph,
Anita Lovelace, Julia Moore,
Barbara Browi, and Arlene
Brown. Leader was Lila Ann
this world of Turmoil it is a
good thing to have courage to
face the difficulties of our
times. There are times when
we are so baffled and confused
that we want to give up, but
there comes a voice saying;
"Tomorrow is another day".
Tomorrow may be a better day
than today. We do not move
from day to day hoping that
the way of life will change as
we strive to reach a richer
purer life.

Mr. and Mrs. James Jones
of Pearl Street entertained on
the occasion of their fifth wed
ding anniversary Saturday eve
ning, March 29, 1947. All their
relatives and friends were
present.
The Good Neighbor Group
met recently at the home of
Mrs. Alice Herbert at North
Elm Street. Mrs. Martha Rice
represented the group at the
annual dinner held at A.M.E
Zion Church at Pearl Street,
March 29, 1947. The next meet
ing will be held April 8, 1947
at the home of Mrs. Cynthia
Herbert on Pearl Street.
Mrs. Virginia Lewis, 7 Pearl
Street, is now at home recup
erating from a recent opera
tion. We wish her a speedy
recovery.
Mrs. Mittie Purdie of Hawk
ins Street has announced the
engagement of her sister, Mat
tie Timmons to Joseph Burke
Miss Lourice Spencer has
spent a .few days home from
school again. She is attending
Howard University, Washing
ton, D. C.
Everyone who is attending
the Candle Light Supper being
given by the Vet's Club at
Club 99, had better bring a
flashlight along.
Mr. George Hunter has ac
quired two additional things
this year. A wife and a great
big LaSalle, more power to
you man.
Miss Emma Cross has re
centlv changed her name to
Mrs. Hilbert Goodwin. Good
luck Emma.
Mr. and Mrs. Rubin McKin
ney of Maple Street attended
Abbysinian Baptist Church
and visited relatives and
friends in New York City this
past Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. George Ward

League meeting Sunday in
New London.
