HARTFORD SOCIAL NEWS Gives Dinner Party On last Tuesday evening, April the first Rev.N and Mrs. F. D. Oates of 8 Pavallion St. entertained a few of- their friends with a delightful din ner party. The party was giv en in honor of Dr. W. Lovell of North Carolina who has been in the city conducting a ten-day lenten service for the A. M. E. Zion Church on Main Street. Those enjoying the Oates hospitality were: Rev. and Mrs. Charles Richardson, Rev. and Mrs. A. P. Morris, Rev. James A. Wright, and Rev. G. S. Clark. Dinner Guests Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lind sey of New Haven, Conn., were the week-end house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Taylor of Clark Street. Mrs. Edwin Wilsno nad Mr. and Mrs. Louis Taylor and family were the dinner guests last Sunday of Mr. arid Mrs. Otis Hatchet of Meriden. Miss Gertrude Montgomery, a member of the senior class at "Wilberforce University in Ohio, spent the Easter holi days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Montgomery oi Mahl Avenue. M. E. Club v The M. E. Club held its reg ular meeting at 35 Mahl ave nue this week, with Mrs. Vir ginia Smith as hostess. An enjoyable evening was spent playing' bridge. The first prize was won by Miss Mary Brooks, the seeond was won by Mrs. Josephine Harris. The following visitors were present : Miss Antoinette Faust, Mrs. Ella Davis, Mrs. Gwendolyn Taylor and, Mrs. Monica Register. Mr. Willie Knighton of 15 Sanford Street, was honored by a birthdiay party, on Mar. 29. The whole event was a success and the guests enjoyed a most joyous evening. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Ford, Mr. and Mrs. McMillian, Mr, and Mrs. Q. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Frazier, Mr. and Mrs. Cooks, Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins; Mesdajnes Gilbert, Blanche Williams, Miss Odessa Terry, Mr. Willie Bert, Mr. Jackson, Mr. Harris, Mr. Green, Mr. Thomas William, Mr. Leak William, J. C. Odums. Week-End Guests Mr. and Mrs. Lansing Caul of New York City were the week-end guests of Mr. Mar imaiiini On Easter Sunday, Mr. Caul had a few friends in to meet his brother and his charming wife. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Holt, Mes dames Bertha Latten, Marjor ie Goodnight, Julia Nelmns, Messrs. Henry "Williams, and John H. Smith. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Warren H. Glasgoe of East Orange, N J., spent the week-end in the city as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Shelton at 154 En field St. Mr. Glascoe is the brother of Mrs. Shelton. Miss Elizabeth Lambert, the daughter of Father and Mrs. Alfred Lambert of Main St., spnet the Easter holidays' in the city with her parents. Miss Lambert teaches music in Pa. Miss L. E. Burch and Mrs. Belle Carter of this city spent the Easter holidays at their native home among the , tall, long leaf pines of Pinehurst, N. C. Mrs. Thelma Jackson of Westland St. acted as host to a score of her friends at hei home, Good Friday evening. There was plenty of every thing good to eat from soup to nuts. All present expressed themselves as having had a de lightful time. The many Hartford friends of Miss Grace Rice of No. 50 Burnside Avenue, Newport, R. L, regret that the weather con ditions prevented them from attending her birthday party, Avhich was scheduled for Sat urday evening, April the 5th The Mother and Home Mak ers Club sponsored an Easter egg hunt Monday, April the 7th at the North End Commun ity Center for the benefit of the smaller children of the com munity. - .
