April 16 a son was born to
Mr. and Mrs. Trust Hickson of
Union Street. Both mother and
son, Fredie McRae, are doing
nicely.
Rev. T. J; Riddiek and his
congregation will conduct ser
vices at the AME Zion church
in New Haven on Sunday, May
3. The Zion Jubilee Chorus will
accompany Rev. Riddiek on his
visit with Rev. Foster.
At Little Zion Baptist Church
Rev. Z. A. Hart spoke from
Luke 2:40. His subject was:

ter the heart-warming sermon
Among the visitors at the ser
vices were Mr. and Mrs. J. B
Boy-kins.
Mrs. L. A. Barco, wife of Rev.
L. A. Barco, assistant pastor of
Little Zion Church is ill in the
Middlesex Hospital. - Friends
are urged to visit her.
A surprise birthday party
was given in honor of Mrs.
Mane Cutler by her husband,
Nathaniel, and her nephew Lo
renzo Woods of Brooklyn, N.
Y. Many attended this gay
party which had all of the ear
marks of the springtime which
we all look forward to during
this time of the year.
Sundav afternoon Mav 11 the
Carolina Gospel Singers of
Philadelphia will appear in a
recital at the Y. M. C. A., at
Union street. This program is
under the direction of the Dea
cons and Deaconesses of Little
Zion Baptist Church.

DOINGS OF TEEN AGERS
OP MIDDLETOWN
Thursday evening the Clover
Leaf Club met at the home of
our supervisor, Mrs. T. J. Rid
diek. At the close of the meet
ing, refreshments were served
by the hostesses of the evening
who were Marie and Annie
Hunter. '
Friday -morning, the student
body of Middletown High
School were entertained by a
classical assembly. There were
many talents represented, in
cluding that of our colored girls
Mildred Black, Eula and Jean
McArthur who sang with the
all girls chorus.
Virginia Randolph celebrated
her birthday with a party last
week-end. There were many
guests from out of town who
attended. Games, refreshments
and dancing kept the evening
in movement and gave every
one who attended a good time.

at the wedding of Mr. Single
ton's sister, Ruby to Mr. C.
Thompson of Hartford. Follow
ing the ceremony at the home,
a reception was held at the
Newington Country Club.
Mrs. Hattie T. Singleton and
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jacksos
were present at the reception.
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were
the recipients if many lovely
gifts.
Mrs. Henry Greene and fami

the 21st for Savannah, Ga.,
where they will visit Mrs.
Greene 's parent-in-laws.

Roscoe Richardson and Mr.
Willy North spent the past
weekend at a Dude Ranch in
Westport, Conn.
The Dorie Miller Club of
Bristol were the guests of the
New Britain Branch of Harriet
Tubman Youth Council at their
regular meeting, Monday night,
April 28th at Club Hall, 34
Church Street, New Britain. It
was agreed that the Youth
Council and the Dorie Miller
Club would, under joint aus
pices, give a Fashion Show May
23rd at Club Hall. The public
is cordially invited. Various
members from both groups
have promised to canvas sur
rounding territories and com
munities for prospective mem
bers. The membership drive is
being conducted in May and
we'd like to see this worthwhile
group grow to unlimited pro
portions. The Fashion Show
