A WELL KNOWN CITIZEN Of THE TOWN. An old and well Known citizen of the town has passed away in the death of John Stillson, who died suddenly of val vular disease of the heart, Friday morn tng, the S:h, aged 7G years. With one exception be wat the oldest resident of Hattertown, being born there December 1G, 1S20, the oldest son of a family of nine children, only two of whom are now living, Alfred Stillson and Mrs Philo B. Sherwood of Easton. He was a remark ably healthy and well-preserved man, never requiring the services of a physic ian until about tliree years ago when he had a severe attack of the grip, and from which he never fully recovered. The grip brought on heart trouble and this was aggravated by a fall abont a month ago, which ii jurei him quite badly. From the effects of this he bad nearly recovered, being able to get around and to go out of doors, which gave him much pleasure. Hs ate breakfast with his fam ily and appeared as well as usual on Fri day morning, out soon complained of a peculiar fueling in the region of bis heart. tie walked f.bout the room a few times, then fut do.vn and a few moments after- Wiitdi, and without uttering a word, fell forward from h'H chair and died suddenly and painlessly. In October, 1319, he was united in marriage to Mary . Sherui-in of Monroe, who with one son, Carlos D , survives him. He was naturally a kind hearted, indulgent man, a good neighbor and an honest citizen. He was much at tached to his home, which he himself built some 50 years ago, and here he waa always found at the close of every day's work, generally persuing his favorite pastime of reading, which was, especial ly during his later years, his chief diver- ion. Having an excellent memory tie was able to retain much that he read. It was hl3 proud boast that he never owned or used a pair of glasses. The funeral services were held at the house on Mon- I day conducted by Rev F. P. Braman ol the Stepney Baptist church. The pall I bearers were chosen from among bis life- I long neighbors and were Messrs Ralph I B nedict, Charles Benedict, George Tor- j ney and George R. Parmelee. He was j laid at rest in the family lot in the Hunt- I ingtown cemetery. RSSOIjUTIOXS OF RESPE3I. The following resolutions were adopt ed by Hiram lodge. No. 13, F. A.
