The Missouri senator then offered

capital. The amendment was reject

Chairman Penrose predicted the tax

He added:
"After the excess profits section
wan disposed of only four high spots
remain. They are the question of a
graduated corporation tax, the tax
on undistributed profits of corpora
tions, an Increase In the estate tax
and the sales tax.
"The backbone of the effort to
waste time has been broken now. No

but fifty-two senators, for the first
time In the history of the senate, j
