The Ster ling high school football team took Dixon into camp here Saturday aft ernoon, 26 to 6, in one of the hard est fought games of the year. Su perior condition, a speedier back- field and a line that was like a stone wall were responsible for the victory over the much heavier team from up thej-iver. Dixon expected to win this game and had been bending every effort to give Ster ling a trimming and from the way the visitors pushed over the first) touchdown of the game in the first five minutes of play it looked as if the visitors would be on top at the finish. The Sterling line showed up great in this game. The line was responsible for breaking up many Dixon piays before they gat underway. Dixon played hard but their efforts only resulted in keep ing the Sterling score down. The biggest crowd of the season watch ed the locals take their fourth straight victory. Sterling kicked off and Dixon pra ceeded to take the ball right down the field and Jones made a for ward pass to Stackpole who was behind the Sterling line when he caught the ball and scored a touchdown. It was a long pass. Dixon failed to kick goaL The quar ter ended with the score Dixon 6, Sterling,- 0. In the second quarter there was a gTeat deal of punting by both teams. After failing to gain through the Dixon line, Gregorions was giv en the ball and made a 35-yard end run, and Conrad made 25 yards on a criss cross play. On the fourth down and four yards to go Gregori ons made an end run and dove over Dixon's goal for the touchdown that evened the score. He failed to kick goal. Before the half end ed Halderman took the ball over the line for another touchdown and goal was kicked. Another touch down was In sight when the whistle sounded at the half. At the start of the third quarter Conrad made an 18-yard run and j then Gregorions got away for a 50- i yard run through the field but drop-1 ped the ball and it rolled behind ' the Dixon goal and Elsasser drop ped on it for another touchdown. Sterling missed the goal. That end ed the scoring for the game and it ended with the score Sterling, 26, Dixon, fi. I WALNUT DINING ROOM SUITE. MA- hocany bea room huilc.
