EIIi to h superintendent of public health In a district comprising the coun ties of Rock Island, Henry, War ren and Henderson. The appoint ment was made hy Dr. I. J. Rawl lngs, director of the Illinois de partment of public health. Dr. Kliis for the past four years has been assistant managing officer of the Watertown state hospital. The office of district superlnten ent of public health was createri by a law recently enacted by the Illi nois legislature. The district offic ial works under direction of the state board and cooperates with local health authorities in the guarding of public health. Statistics show that a large ma jority of the inmates of the insane hospftals of Illinois are there be cause of diseases ".hat could have been escaped through enforcement ct proper preventive measures. Mr. Ritter is being brought to this city in con nection with the membership cam paign which the B'nai Brlth will conduct in the tri-cities with the aim of enlisting every Jewish man into the organization. The meeting is open to men and women, and will replace the regu lar session of the chapter. Fur ther plans for the membership drive will be announced and work ers named.
