Bradley, want $15,000 of the American
Express company. Their petition, filed
ia court recently, alleges that on Sept,
If they shipped a lot of silverware from
Memphis to St. Louis, bat tho goods
never came. The value of these goods
waa not less than $2,000, bat there are
reasons why the plaintiifs think they
ught to recover $15,000.
Nearly all of the property was the ao

ents from friends. In the list of articles
were four cups and a pair of silver spurs,

pi and Alabama.
These patriotic women presented the
articles to General Forrest as a token of
their respect and high esteem, as well ns
that in which he was held by the people
of the south, for the distinguished serv
ices he had rendered in many battles in
defense of a cause which he and they be
lieved to be just.
The plaintiffs aver that by reason of
this fact, in addition to the intrinsic
valuo of the property, it had acquired
and had at tho time of delivery to the do
fendant a value of at least $10,000. The
plaintiffs sue for $15,000 for the nonde

Terrapin, the now greatest delicacy
known to tho epicure, are a little lower
in price this year than they were List,
although their comparative scarcity
makes them one of the most precious

brought $55 per dozen last year, are now
selling for $50. The largest specimens
are highly prized for their flesh, and have
brought even this year as high as $72 per

which have not changed materially in

A Greek engineer who pursued Lis
studies in this country has prepared a
plan for the electric lighting of the Bos
porus from Kanak to San Stefano, on
the sea of Marmora. He proposes to
accomplish this by building three ma
chines or engines at Armout K'jei, Kan
duli and l'erui-Barum. where the cur
rent is unusually strong. Tho plan has
Bplieared so simple and feasible that a
society of capitalists took it up and ap
plied to the Turkish government for per
mission to carry it out. Tho ministry
now bus the matter under consideration,
and it is believed that it will lie favora
