Mr. Thorp states that in the lower end of Drury town ship 2,000 acres of corn are under water, and is disposed to attribute the overflow to the fact that the proper precautions were not made bv the board of supervisors in the con struction of the Drury toll road, which might have been made, he says, to serve as a dam under such circumstances as the present. Mavor Medill presiding and all the aldermen present. Aid. Foss presented a petition from the residents of the vicinitv of Thirty-eighth street asking that that street be graded, improved and ma cadamized, either out of the general fund or by special assessment. Re ferred to street and allev committee. The clerk read a request from the Davis company to open a paved street to make a water connection. Granted, on motion of Aid. Corkcn. The council went into committee of the whole on tLe annual appropri ation mil, on motion oi Aid. Bladel, and Aid. Schneider took the chair. On the rising of the committee. Aid. Schneider reported the annual appropriation ordinance, in amount W6.774.80, and moved its adoption. Passed by unanimous vote. Aid. Schneider also reported a resolution distributing revenues in various funds, the aggregate amount being $103,130.82, 'and moved its adoption. Adoped by unanimous vote. Aid. Nelson offered a resolution to notify owners of Columbia park to remove certain fences. Adopted. Aid. Bladel moved that the citv clerk notify George Wagner to pay his water rent within 10 days or the water will be shut off. Carried. Aid. Corken moved that the fire and light committee be authorized to sell or trade a certain horse to the best advantage. Carried. Aid.
