Illinois. St. I-ouis Republic Illinois is a great state in every es sential that makes for greatness in a commonwealth. Ht sons in peace and war have earned a meed of dis tinction for deeds well done equal to that earned by the sons of many older members of the federal sister fa ood. Illinois furnished the greatest statesman and the most successful general to the union side during the most trying period in our history, and a full quota of regiments who did gallant service on many battlefields. The dedication, therefore, of the monuments to the Illinois soldiers who fell in the series of engagements around Chattanooga more than ."J5 vears ago was a memorable and meri torious tribute to the aIor and sac rifice of her tniforgotten dc.nl. The speeches deli veron the occasion by Sen ator Cullom and Cot. Tanner were in harmonv with the patriotic ceremony. The only jarring note on the occasion was sounded by (Jen. If the reader took the time aud trouble to ask his fellow residents of Rock Island the simple question given below, he would obtain the one an swer. If he would read the statements now being published in Rock Island papers, which refer to this answer, it would surprise him to note that they number so many. As many more could be, and may be, published, but in the meantime ask the iirst person yon meet what cures backache? The answer will le Doan's Kidney Pills. Here is a citizen who endorses our claim: Albert Burton. 2810 Fifth-and-a-half avenue, an employe of the Electric Light company, says: 'I had a soreness across my back nearly all the time and the kidney secretions were irregular in every way. When I caught the least cold it always set tled in my back. I saw Doan's Kid ney Pills advertised and especially recommended for my trouble, so I called at the Harper house drug store and got a box. After using two boxes I felt almost like a new man. They sooi relieved the soreness across my back, and regulated the action of the kidneys." Doan's Kidney Pills are for sale by all dealers, price 50 cents. Mailed by Fcster-Milburn company, Buffalo, N. Y., sole agents for the United States Remember the name Doan's and take no substitute. loe It I'ht to lluj Cheap?
