KEWANEE- WINNER Carries Away Victory in the Track Meet of Military Tract . Association. LONG LEAD OVER SECOND Moline Comes Under Wire Third Rock Island Contestants Get Ten Points. Rock Island won 10 points in the sixth annual track meet of the Mili tary Tract association at Galesburg yesterday afternoon. Kewanee was first with 34 points, Monmouth second with 18, and Moline third with 14. The features of the meet were the break ing of the 220-yard hurdle record of the association by Trask of Kewanee, and the 100-yard dash record by Schaum loffel of Monmouth. The schools holding membership in the association and represented yes terday were Abingdon, Aledo, Canton, Elmwood, Galesburg, Moline, Mon mouth, Princeton and Rock Island The largest delegation was from Ke wanee, about 200 being present. Following the morning oratorical declamatory, essay and typewriting contests all interest was transferred to the athletic field, about fifteen hundred people gathering at the Williams track to watch the events. Next Wednesday when Peoria opens the season at Rock Island there will be the ceremonies that usually mark the occasion. There will be a street car parade about the three cities par ticipated in by the two teams with a band and banners, and the mayor wil! officiate in delivering the initial ball to the batter. If the weather is as fair as that of Thursday, it is believed that the attendance here will exceed that at Peoria. Several of the large offices and some of the business houses have agreed to close so that their employes may attend the game. The c utest will be opened at 3:15, the time at which all game on week J days will be called throughout this sea son. This will give many a better op portunity to attend than if the time were 15 minutes earlier as has b en the case in the fir.-t month heretofore. Gibson, the American association pitcher, who has bet n wth the locals for a week or so was this morning turned over to Decatur by President Sexton.
