The southern storm has increased in
Intensity and moved northeastward to
Kentucky. It has been attended by
rain or snow over most of the territory
east of the Rockies and by high winds
from the gulf and south Atlantic sec
tions northward to the lake region. A
tornado occurred In the vicinity of
Sbreveport, La., during Tuesday after
noon. Higher pressures, accompanied
by a sharp fall in temperature, prevail
on the eastern Rocky mountain slope.
At 7 a. m. the thermometers were be
low two in portions of the Dakotas
and in northern Wyoming and north
ern Saskatchewan. Another storm, at
tended by rain or wow and higher tem
perature, Is developing on the Rocky
mountain plateau. The continued east
ward movement of the southern storm
center and the approach of the mod
erate high that is on the eastern Rocky
mountain slope, will be attended by

charge of the school were well pleas
ed with its success. Fay Hawes
camp. No. 281, of Rock Island, was
awarded the prize of $10 given to the
camp securing the largest number of
beneficial members for the year. Mrs
Wilhelmina Stassen of Rock Island
was awarded a Royal Neighbor signet
ring as the prize for the lodge deputy
receiving the highest number ot bene

main school. About 100 attended.
