THB WOBRELL BISTERS.
It must be remembered that to-night the
Worrell Sisters & Company commence their
first evening's entertainment at Dunn'
Hall, Moline. As the weather now is more
favorable for amusements we do not doubt
but that the audience will be a large one,
and we can assure those who anticipate
going from here a hearty enjoyment, judg
iog from past experience. Miss Sophie's
ballads, they must be remembered, were
greatly appreciated, while Miss Jennie's
songs and dances, and especially that clog
(as she alone as a lady dancer knows how
to render it) never failed to elicit a series of
encores. Harry Jackson, the new strength
added to the troupe, is said to be by the
knowing ones a No. 1 in his line and thoee
wbo have seen his lite-like changes admit
tbat they have never been equaled. His
ix personations are trne to tha letter, es
pecially bis Napoleon 1st, which is readily
recognized by tbe least onseholared. Tbe
De Leon Brothers, Leon and Albert, in their
various amusing and daring feats have ever
held their audienae ia dumb amazement
and now that the oldest one, Mr. Leon De
Leon, bas joined his brother, it will infuse
new life in this branch of the performance.
Arrangements have been made with the
city line of oirs, which will leave here ia
ample time to reaoh Moline before the play
commences and then return ia due season.

FRIGHTFUL ACOIDiHT AT ELOIH.
Frof the Elgin ? w leara that a
terrible aeoident occurred to a young lady
named Mis Mary Tyrrell, at work in tbe
watch faetory at that place. It seems her
hair became intangled ia the shafting and
she waa jerked from her feet into the air,
and suspended for a brief aeoond, whet her
soalp was torn from her head, and she fell
to the floor. Falling upon ber knees, she clasp
her hands to her head and arose and walked
to the office door. Turning ah beheld her
hair and scalp whirling with lightning rapi
dity around the shaft, striking the ceiling
with a dull sound at every revolution. It
was then she cried, "My God moat I die,
can no one help me 7" Supported by friends
she walked into aa adjoining room where
her bald soalp was covered and dressed.
She was then taken in a carriage and drawn
home.
Tns wound .
strikes a line from between the eyebrows
through the centre of the left ear to the
baok of the neck ; from the back of the
neck around just below the right ear to the
point where the eye opens, and you have
very nearly the outline of the wound ; the
entire scalp above that line having been
torn off, carrying with it both eyebrows, the
upper half ot one ear and the whole of the
other, leaving the entire skull exposed white
and ghastly. The chief point of medical
inserest in his anfortunate ease was a disa
greement between the attendant Doctors,
on replacing the scalp, which is thus related
by the Gazette :
Dr. Winchester thinking it should be, and
Dr. Clark thinking it should not. Dr. Win
chester gave as his reason for his theory
that if the girl should recover with an ex
posed skull the recovery could be but tem
porary ; that if the scalp would grow
t again the cure might be permarent;
that the scalp was the natural, therefore
the proper dressing, and should be
placed back so that the girl should have
the benefit of the chance, though slight, of
us growing on, wkioh she certainly would
not have if it were left off. Dr. Clark claim
ed on the contrary, that it was cot the prop
er dressing, and that to replace it would lea
sen the girl s chaooe of reoovery.
It was finally decided to adopt Dr. W
theory and it was replaced. Four days have
passed, and at the present writing Judge
Wilcox, at whose residence the girl is liv
ing, expresses a belief that the experiment
will prove a success; the scalp has every
appearanoe of being healthy, ana tbe pa
tient says that, if she can be a judge from
the teeline, her head is well, she sttli sur
fers from the strain of the neck. Up to to
day she had eaten nothing except in liquid
form, but is now able to eat. Should she
recover and the scalp attach itself, it will be
one of the most wonderful cures oa reoord
The attending physician expresses no apin
ion in regard to it; other practitiocers
seem to think that recovery is next to itn
possible.
DEATH OF CAPT. A. H. BROOKS
We regret to announce the death of Cap

patriotic impulses did not permit him to re

WATER WORKS.
' The members of our City Couaoil aad City
Council of Davenport, together with any
others who may desire, go to Peoria to-morrow,
to inspect the. Holly system of Water
Works, with the Tiew of introducing them
into this city. ' The people of Davenport
have been discussing the subject for some
time, and it is quite probable when they re
tarn from Peoria, that their Council will no
longer hesitate to pass the neoessary ordin
ance. Parties have stood ready for some
months to furnish the necessary capital to
pnt the work into operation in Davenport,
but they could not indue the Council to
pats a liberal ordinance. So strongly
in favor of the Holly system are the people,
that the Council City Attorney and others,
have determined to see the system in opera'
tion.
With ns, the case is somewhat different,
as publio opinion seems to be that the city
mast do the work, and thus be in control of
the mattor, and to possess the revenue de
rived from it. This is right, and will event
nate in the city's having either a source of
of large revenue, or else have free water,
The party leave to-morrow morning on the
Chicago, Rock Island & Pacifio Road, and
ill probably returu by way of the Peoria
and Rock Island Road. We hope that ev
ery citizen who oan spare the time will go
