Duklix, Deo. 18. Notwithstanding the
proclamation of tbe Lord Lieutenant, for
bidding processions or assemblages in Lon
donderry, tbe apprentice boyt of that oity
to day attempted to parade nnder the lead
ership of Johnson, a member of Parliament.
They were warned to desist, bol refused,
when a force of eavalry and constabulary
ckarged upon and dispersed the prooeession.
Several persons were severely injured. For
awbile there was considerable excitement,
bat all it quiet thit evening.

Conkling offered a resolution directing the
Retrenchment Committee to investigate
Sohurz's charges of fraud in the New York
custom house. The consideration was post
boned till the committee be appointed.
Mr. Carbelt introduced a bill providing
thai national banks on tbe 1st of January,
1:72, shall have three par cent gold coin on
hand of their aggregate Circulation, increas
ing thertatier annually until they have
fifteen per cent; thereafter to keep a reserve
m gold rather than legal tenders.

Mr. Haldeman asked leave to offer a res
olution expressing the profound regret of
the House at learning the severity with
which the Frenoh government, of which
Thiers is President, has pursued tbe com
munist prisoners.
Mr. Pieroe objected
Mr. Heidemtn moved to suspend the
rules for the reception and adoption of the
resolution.
Mr. Cox wanted to offer an amendment
condemning the atrocities of the Spanish
government.
The Soeaker ruled no amendment in

A Havana letter to toe lleraid states that
a visit to the grave of Castanoo, which was
alleged to bave been desecrated by the stu

tbe Spaniards, and everything about tbe
grave is in perfect order, never having been
disturbed.
Eight men attacked tbe jailor at New
Brunswick, N. J., last night, gagged and
bound him, and then attempted to enter the
jail, but the assistant jailor fired oa them
and called the polioe, the ruffians fleeing.
