Deficient health does not commonly consist in any special functional deraugement, and still less in any special organic derangement, but is simply this want of sufficient nour ishment. There is, it may be, abundance of food ; but then the complicated apparat us which ought to eonvert this blood into nutritious blood, is not working aright, and, in this way, tnultitudnous myriads are actually starved, slowly and miserably starved, in the very presence of plenty.and find their only asylum from a wretched life, in a premature grave ! But it is the property of certain substances, when re ceived into the system, to repair this com plicated apparatus to urge forward, that is, tne wort 01 nutrition. Under the name of Dr. Gottlieb Fisch's Bitters, we have a preparation which thus urges forward and that permanently too ! A wine-glass ful, taken before or after eating, gives both increased general appetite, and increased cpacity to digest the food received. Ex periment will verify this. This subject will be contiued next week under "27ie Importance of Health." M.GRASSLER EE&ALIA COSTUME Manufactory, 290 West Water St., MILWAUKEE WIS. Let us Consider. -Since the introduc tion of distilled spirits in the Sixteenth Century, they have been habitually pre scribed as remedies. We know that alco hol, in all its forms, is pernicious to health Knowinq these thinqs and that under the system of treatment which includes their use, the mortality among the sick is, and ever has been, enormous, is it not worth while to try the effect of a remedy whicl combines in their highest excellence th qualities of a Tonic, an Alterative and ; KeeuJator ; contains no mineral Dane or murderous alkaloid or alcoholic poison does its curative office without pain and with uniform certainty? Dr. Walker's Vinegar Bitters fulfills all these condi tions, and is now effecting the most extra- oadinarv cures, in cases where every "spe cific" of the faculty has ignominiously foiled. Consider, in view ot these fact. whether any sick person is justified by rea son and common sense in declining to test the virtues of this undented and irreisti ble remedy. 4-59!ly G. W. OGDEN & CO., Manufacturers of Springfield, Jan. lu. Both branches of the Legislature held two sessions to-day. with a quorum in each Flouse. a tact worthy of record, as in days of legislative passes there was rarely a Saturday's session in the feenate.
