justly required to "git up and git." It
says:
' Both Bristow aud Wilson will soon
pass from public notice forever. In the
name of reform they have been guiltv of
revolting practices traded with criminals
and sold out justice for power. They
have failed, and it is well thev did.
Grant's record and deeds will shine bright
er as the years roll on. He has been as
sailed and betrayed as no man ever was
before, but be will outlive it all, while his
traducers and enemies among the mean
est of whom are the ex-secretary and the
oliciter are forgotten, or only remem
bered to be dispised."

expressed regarding Gen. Sheridan's
failure to take the field against the Sioux,
and not a little unfavorable comment upon

direct hostilities from Chicago, which has
extensive telegraphic facilities, than if he
was isolated in the Sioux country; but as
there is no telegraphic wire which reaches
within a long distance of the region where
the fighting is going on, this will hardly
be accepted as a satisfactory reason.

choice of position for his headquarters is
